The eight person strong reggae band from Gothenburg, Treanti, have released their album debut, Invisible Lines, with the label Swingkids. The album contains ten driving and inspiring tracks where all eight members contribute to create an unrelenting and impressive entity. The albums title, and its principal theme, refers to the intangible yet ever-present boundaries people tend to create between one another in order to separate sex, race, age, religion and beliefs. Such boundaries can be just as evident in personal relationships as they are in international conflicts.
Invisible Lines was recorded in Gothenburg, for the most part in analogue at Grand Recordings, as well as in Kristian Anttilas studio in Ringön and in the band’s home studios. The keywords here are spontaneity, feeling and groove - the total positive experience of Treanti’s music has always come first before precision and exact details. After three years of touring Sweden’s live scene (for example, Arvika Festival and Gothenburg’s Reggae Festival), the time was ripe for Treanti to deliver their music on cd. Playing live has made a strong impression on the band’s sound and therefore it was obvious that Invisible Lines should aim to capture that live feeling.
The first taste of the album, the single No Time, is also the opening track. The song will be released on radio as well as be available for free download on the internet. Spring/summer 2007 will mean gigging all over the country for Treanti, who have already earned themselves quite a reputation as a powerful live act. With this new album up their sleeve, the word will spread and even more will get their chance to experience Sweden’s most exciting reggae band at their best – live on stage.
